“Light in the Darkness”

Holding Hands

An invitation to shine your light in dark times.

An original song, “Light in the Darkness,” was written after the Pulse nightclub tragedy in Orlando, as a way to inspire hope and resilience in times of challenge.  A man named Greg Zanis lived his faith by driving 1,200 miles to bring 49 handmade crosses to create a memorial in Orlando, with the message: “Love your brother, love your neighbor. Don’t judge them.”  From his act of kindness and his words of compassion, thousands of people came to pay tribute with flowers, cards, and love.  This provided a great comfort to the families who lost loved ones at Pulse, as well as the community. A featured charitable song on “Celebrating 30 Years of World Nation”.

“That Sister is My Brother”

In support of transgender awareness.

After viewing “Lady Valor,” a PBS documentary that portrayed the life of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Beck who transitioned to be Kristin Beck, Haring & Valdeos were inspired to write a song, “That Sister is My Brother.” They dedicated the song to “Kristin Beck, a real American hero.”

“I wanted to write the song because it bothered me that everyone praised and honored Chris Beck as a great war hero for serving countless tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, but when she became Kristin Beck, it was as if she had never done anything for her country,” says Haring. “To our way of thinking, she was still the great war hero she always was, and she deserved respect for that.”
